| Daryl Richter comments on SOA - Service Oriented Architecture |
 |
|
Daryl Richter provides some interesting real world
insight into SOAs
It’s no secret that Service Oriented Architecture –
SOA is a hot topic and overused buzzword in the
world of Information Technology. If you’ve been
flipping through CIO Magazine and thinking to
yourself, “man - I gotta get me some SOA”, you
might want to think twice before plopping down
millions of dollars to buy software from one of the big
SOA vendors, thinking that it will solve your
problems. In a candid interview with Human Capital
and Technology Report [HTCR], Daryl Richter,
explains why it is essential to ask yourself what
problem you are trying to solve and then approach
the problem from a design standpoint rather than
a “buying a product” standpoint.

Barbara Fitzgerald-Turner, SPHR Establishing Performance Goals for IT Professionals |
 |
|
Barbara Fitzgerald-Turner, a veteran Technology
company HR professional, talks about establishing
and achieving S.M.A.R.T. performance goals for IT
Professionals to increase Employee Commitment,
Productivity and Retention.
It should be no surprise to anyone in the IT arena
(where success is based primarily on the creativity,
dedication, and standards of excellence of its human
capital) that according to a recent survey by the
Corporate Leadership Council (CLC), the level of
employee commitment in a firm can make or break
the
bottom line. The survey of over 50,000
employees at 59 global organizations found that
by increasing employees engagement levels,
organizations can expect an increase in performance
of up to 20 percentile points and an 87% reduction in
employees probability of departure. Translation,
highly committed employees significantly outperform
the average and are dramatically less likely to resign.
