recoveries & turnarounds. The methodology is called

Fed Chief Cites IT and Flexible Labor Key to
Economic Growth.
In a commencement address at MIT in early June
2006, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke
credited the productivity surge of the late 1990s to
two factors – “advances in information and
communication technologies” as well as the flexibility
of U.S. labor practices. Productivity, in turn, drives
economic growth.

IT Employment Continued to Grow Through
Summer 2006
Alexandria, VA, September 1, 2006 – In August 2006,
employment of IT workers increased 3,600 from the
previous month to 3,666,200. Over the past twelve
months, IT employment has increased 4.3%,
according to the National Association of Computer
Consultant Businesses (NACCB).
The consistent growth is not hard to explain. “As
NACCB’s IT Employment index reflects, IT
professionals can be found in nearly every industry
and sector of the economy,” said Mark Roberts,
NACCB CEO. “Last month’s growth was attributable in
part to increased IT employment activity in the
financial services, chemical manufacturing and health
care industries as well as among companies in the
computer systems design, ISP, search portal and
data processing
